1/5/09- Well the Tulsa Shootout has come and gone. We had a good showing considering the competition. We drew a 113 that put us in the 3rd heat race. We started 8th and moved up to 5th place. That finish put us in the top 60 in points. The top 60 in points go to the qualifiers; we were put in to the 3rd qualifier, where we pulled off an 11th place finish with engine trouble. We change out the engine on Friday getting ready for the C-Main. We started 3rd in the main and managed to hold off a tough field for a 3rd place finish that put us in the B-Main later that night. Starting so far back in the B-Main making it to the A-Main would be a feat. We had a fast car but not fast enough with a 16th place finish. We are already counting the days till the 2010 Tulsa Shootout. Now starts the drive towards the POWRi Indoor race in Duquoin IL.
12/26/08- It’s almost here we have 4 days till we leave for Tulsa. We had a full day at the shop. In the morning Butch and Ryan from Bear Built Engines were at our shop finishing the 07 Suzuki we are going to run in the shootout. At about 1 today we strapped the engine to the car and had all the wiring done by 1:30 and had the engine running by 2. It seems strong and ready to compete for the Golden Driller as is the entire team here at Miller Racing, Car Owner - Jim Miller, Car Owner - Theresa Miller, Crew Chief -JJ Carter, Engines - Butch and Ryan Frantz, These people are the best in the business and we will give everything we have to win the Tulsa Shootout.
12/10/08- Its about 3 weeks till Miller Racing heads out to Tulsa Oklahoma to compete in the Tulsa Shootout. My team and I have completely gone thru the car and replaced everything including the front torsion bar tube. We will be leaving on the 30th of December at about 3 in the morning. That should put us in Tulsa at about noon. The next day is nothing but trying to get a pit spot inside the Tulsa Expo Center. With 1,000 entries this could be a long day. This trip wouldn’t be possible with out some great sponsors, Bear Built Engines, Bell Helmets, Collins Oil Service, Miller Signs and Designs, and R and B Powder coating.
