Opening Weekend

May 8th- Opening Weekend

Well after the rain out on May 3rd we finally got the 2010 season started on May 8th. We had a pretty successful first weekend, lets recap first, the track, it was very rough but, fast. The track crew didn’t have a water truck as I understand. We rolled out for the first set of hot laps and the car was very good but when we would hit a rut it would totally upset the car, so we came in the crew changed the shock package and went back out and it was good but, still not great.

I have to give lots of love to my crew Josh Stack and Zach Carter, they worked there asses off this weekend. The racing started and something about when the sun goes down and the moon comes up every thing clicks, the car was great we went in to the first turn in Heat 1 and the car was very good. We finished last, not the result I was wanting, but we came back in made a few changes and rolled out for the 2nd heat and lead it wire to wire for our first win of the 2010 season.

After that win that got us eneough points to put us in the dash, starting on the pole we had high hopes for a pole start in the feature, we rolled out the green flagged dropped and we never looked back, we got a great start and wired the field to take the dash as well and earn that pole starting spot for the feature. We came back in and we talked it over and decided to drop the stagger and JJ put some extra grooves in the tires for added traction. The green flagged droped and the problems started, the outside car caught me sleeping on the start and got the lead goin in to turn 1, we followed him for 4 or 5 laps and then a yellow came out, after we went back green, we started to get in to lap traffic and we started reeling him back in, another yellow, so we start the whole process over again. The green flag drops once again and the 3rd place guy slammed me up the track going in to 3 and 4 spinning us and sending us to the back of the pack, we could only muster a 7th place finish, not the results we were looking for. All in all it was a great weekend taking the dash and the heat and thanks to the crew and all there hard work the car work flawless. We are already counting the days till the 2nd annual Micro Sprint Super Nationals in 2 weeks and trying to collect the $1,500 prize.

New Season

Hello all,

The 2010 season is right aroung th corner, sorry its taken me so long to have any news ,but with no racing going on except for once a month news is kinda hard to come by.

Well we went down to the Powri Season Opener at Duquoin IL on March 28th, We had pretty good run down there running with the Heavy Hiting Powri boys and girls. We started the night in practice with the car very good but needing to be a little tighter so we took some stagger out and rolled the wing back a little, preparing for the heat race. We started 6th in the heat with a total of 8 cars to compete aginst we got a good run going on the bottom with cars slidding up and the changes we made taking effect. Then going in to turn 2 a car spins in front of me slowing us and sending us to the tail end of the pack, with one lap to go we would have to settel for last, that run put is in the C-Main starting 2nd row inside, with the top 4 going to the B-Main we had to be carefull we ended up finishing 3rd that run put us at the back of the B-Main, we ended up finishing 18th. Overall the car handled like a dream all weekend but, the results dont show it.

Also now at the PowrI shows there are using radios now, I have never raced with a radio and after using them they are with out a doubt the fastest way to get cars lined up and keep the show running, I applaud the PowrI team for using them.

Now we have about a week and a half till the season opener at CCMMRA, we have orderd a new In- Car Camera this year from the people at GO-Pro Cameras, it records in full 1080 HD!!! we should start having more and better videos in the video section this summer. As always Zack Carter will be video taping all of the racing action this year to share on jimmymillerracing.com.

C-Ya at the track

JImmy Miller Racing

DuQuoin 2010 Hay everybody, well the 2010 Season is about 2 months away, which means that we will be making the annual trip to the PowrI Season opener in DuQuoin Il on March 28th. In preparing for this trip we have made alot of changes to the car and the paint , as you can see the car is all black, because black is beautiful. We have also made some new changes that Mark and the team over at Stallard Chassis has told up to make, we made these changes for the Tulsa Shootout and the car was very good and stuck like no other in all parts of the track. We are very excited about getting to Duquoin and seeing how the car does on the extremely small paperclip track, where passing is a premium. DuQuoin usually has the best PowrI has to offer.

Then after Duquoin we will be going to Macon Speedway on April 25th and maybe hitting a show at US24 Speedway in Logansport IN. Then we will be having the CCMMRA Season opener on May 3rd, we are very excited about getting home and racing with the changes we have made to the car it should be a very good season

2009 Post Year

Hi folks,

The 2009 Season has come and gone, and we are full steam ahead till Tulsa. The 2009 Season was one of fun, disappointment, and above all learning and adapting. The season started off great with 3 top 10 finishes in the first month and a solid 3rd place in points going in to June. Then come July, we hit a string of bad luck and never seemed to fully recover the steam we had built up earlier in the season. Then August came and we started trying new things, some would work some wouldn’t work as well. September finally got here the last month of the season, and we decided to go back to what worked earlier in the year, but unfortunately didn’t get to try it because of a rain out the last race of the season. All in all we ended up 5th in season points which is still very good considering the talent we race against. As of now we are completely reworking the suspension on the Team Bear Built Stallards, hoping to find some new luck and success that I know we will find before heading to Tulsa over New Years and Duquoin in February (we hope).

Jimmy Miller Racing

Rain, Rain , and Macon Speedway

Hay everybody I know its been a while since our last update. The last two weeks mother nature has beat us at Coles so July 11th we packed up and went to the world famous and lightning fast Macon Speedway in Macon, I.L.

As Macon being the only track open last Saturday because of all the rain there was very good competition. The last time we where here in April we dident do so hot, blowing a fuse in the B-Main and missing the A. This time it was a diffrent story. We rolled out for the heat and did terrible finishing last. That put is in the 2nd row outside for the B-Main. Well the highside was just starting to come in, and we got a great start moving up to the 2nd position and holding off 3rd to make it in to the last starting spot of the 20 car A-Main.

We changed gear and added some stagger knowing if we want to get a decent finishing spot we had to be able to move around. Starting that far back at any race track is tough eneough but there it was a challenge. Some early yellows helped alot and the highside finally coming in helped a ton. We thru it up there and never looked back coming from 18th up to 12th after a yellow.

We had a decent run, can't wait to get back home though and continue the hunt for the track title before it get away.

We also got some great in-car footage from the B-Main on the Videos page.

The Last 2 weeks

Hay everybody just thought id give an up date on the season. The last 2 weeks have been interesting for my-self and Miller Racing. I recently stopped building the race track at CCMMRA to help and improve our results and I can say that they are improving. We finally got out first win of the 2009 season last week in the dash so that started us on the pole for the feature. We were passing for the lead and got ran in to the tires and spun out so that sent us to the back of a 13 car field. So starting that far back we had only one choice.. The top. We were on a rail up there and came all the way back up to 6th. Would have prefered the win but well take what we can get.

Last night we were also at CCMMRA we had disastrous heat races finishing 4 and 6th, dident make the dash so that started us 13 in the feature out of 16 cars. They had just cut the top of the track before the feature so I knew where we were going the top again. The high side was higher than I have ever seen it at CCMMRA, but we worked with it. About halfway through the feature somebody blew and engine and dumped oil right where the top was at and it was a mess I had to go to the bottom for a few laps and make it work. After about 2 laps the oil was gone so I went back up to the high side and fought hard and got 7th in the feature. Not the best results but we will take what we can get right now.

The Month of May

Well the first month of the season is now over, it was a damm interesting month. It had its highs and lows, but all in all a good start to the season. We started off the year bad with a 9th place finish in the first weekends feature, we also learned the importance of tear-offs, as I got a mud dobber right to the helmet and coulden't see for 3/4 or the race. Well the 2nd weekend was a whole heck of a lot better, in the feature after falling back to as far as 5th and I battled extremely hard to get back to a top 3 finish. On the last lap of the feature we had to put a slid job on 3rd place to lock up the 2nd position. The May 16th race was a wash out, but the May 23rd race was one I would like to forget. We started out the night good with a 2nd and a 3rd place finish in the first 2 heat races of the night, and then the dash happend and on the first corner I went in to hard and flipped on my lid, not very hard but bad eneough to keep me from finishing so I had to start 6th in the feature. I have footage from that flip in my video gallery. My crew worked extremely hard and had me back and ready to run the feature, we had to settle for a 6th place finish, racing with out a front wing and a smaller top wing. On May 30th we competed in the First Annual CCMMRA Super Nationals it was one heck of a race and a very eventfull one for us. We had two terrible heat races and had to race my way out of the B-Main and into the A-Main. The car was very good but, had to settle for a 5th place finish ending my night as I would get caught up behind a slower car.

The month of May was a very eventfull one but we know we still have 17 races left untill the 2009 Champion is crowned and we are going to battle with every thing we have untill the last point it counted. Untill Next Month

Jimmy Miller

Miller Racing

2009 Preseason

Well the 2009 season
is less than 2 months away. I can hardly stand it any longer, so in 2
weeks were off to the Southern Illinois Center to compete in the POWRi
Winter Nationals. This little bull ring is a tight track to maneuver
but, I am going to give 110% to win this race being this is probably
the last year for it with the State of Illinois closing it in 2010.
The SI Center is just 5 short miles from Carbondale IL so if you’re in the neighborhood stops by and says hi and watch some awesome racing from our micros and the national midgets.

Well
like I said we have 2 months till the regular points season at Coles
County Speedway, This season we are launching a full on assault on the
rest of the competition that includes the 2008 champion and my team
mate Ryan Frantz.. Miller racing has had wins in national races with
the NMMA but, we have never won the track point’s title at CCMMRA,
that’s one trophy we like to have on our mantle, and consistency mixed
with wins and me having the best team in this business we will give
everything we have to win it. That being said we have also added a new
team member this season in Zach Carter

Zach
Carter will be our video guy this year getting all the video you see
on jimmymillerracing.com, but more importantly we will be ably to bring
the video back on a Sunday and critique it and find mistakes made by
myself and other drivers. It will be an invaluable tool this season in
going after the point’s title.

Coming soon to
Jimmy Miller Racing is DR. J Productions as well as a pit crew page and
hopefully by the end of the season a highlight video. This season won’t
be possible with out some great sponsors- Bear Built Engines, Bell
Helmets, Collins Oil Service, R and B Powder Coating and Miller Signs
and Designs Thanks to all of you.
2009 Tulsa Shootout

1/5/09- Well the Tulsa Shootout has come and gone. We had a good showing considering the competition. We drew a 113 that put us in the 3rd heat race. We started 8th and moved up to 5th place. That finish put us in the top 60 in points. The top 60 in points go to the qualifiers; we were put in to the 3rd qualifier, where we pulled off an 11th place finish with engine trouble. We change out the engine on Friday getting ready for the C-Main. We started 3rd in the main and managed to hold off a tough field for a 3rd place finish that put us in the B-Main later that night. Starting so far back in the B-Main making it to the A-Main would be a feat. We had a fast car but not fast enough with a 16th place finish. We are already counting the days till the 2010 Tulsa Shootout. Now starts the drive towards the POWRi Indoor race in <place></place><city></city>Duquoin <state></state>IL.

<date year="2008" day="26" month="12"></date>12/26/08- It’s almost here we have 4 days till we leave for <city></city><place></place>Tulsa.
